Neon animal portraits

I created a series of animal portraits for my installation at Neon Dream. This was a first for me. I had drawn people over and over and felt comfortable doing so. My friend Helen (of Trifecta) suggested that I try animals for Neon Dream as it would fit better into the environment.

I approached the animal portraits the same way as I would draw a person. I framed the drawing from the shoulders up, with the emphasis on the head. The pencil drawings got scanned and tweaked for silk screen in Photoshop. Each print would be lit under blacklight so I broke out the colors with that in mind.

You can see more info about the wallpaper I designed / printed / installed for Neon Dream in the previous post.
